Baukje was married before in Idaarderadeel on May 27, 1840, at the age of approximately 26 to her cousin Hayte Johannes van der Schaaf (aged 23 years), born in Grouw on January 23, 1817, son of Johannes Haytes van der Schaaf (shipwright's man and shipwright's man) and Wypkjen Uiltjes Veenema.
