Jan Jelles Tigchelaar, born in Midlum on December 13, 1847, son of Jelle Theunis Tigchelaar (kilnman, tilebaker, worker, tilebaker and tigchelaarsknecht) and Johanna Jans Oosterhout (werkbode).

Jan was married in Barradeel on May 13, 1876, at the age of 28 to
Rigtje Hiddinga (aged approximately 24 years), born in Sexbierum circa 1852, daughter of Syds Sybrens Hiddinga and Minke Anes de Vries.
