Ate was married before in Harlingen on July 7, 1923, at the age of 28 to Trijntje Tigchelaar (aged 26 years), born in Harlingen on March 10, 1897, daughter of Anne Tigchelaar (workman, municipal worker and municipal worker) and Taetske de Vries (maid servant), died in Harlingen on September 24, 1974, buried in Goutum on September 27, 1974, aged 77 years.
