Herman Feenstra, born in Harlingen on October 27, 1874, son of Cornelis Feenstra (blacksmith' hand and blacksmith' hand) and Hielkje Heeres (maid servant), serviceman and workman.

Herman was married in Franeker on December 19, 1897, at the age of 23 to
Jantje Sippens (aged 22 years), born in Tzum on July 17, 1875, daughter of Thomas Jacobs Sippens (merchant) and Akke Sieks Plantinga.
