Jan Baukes Venema, born in Eernewoude on April 10, 1847, son of Bauke Uiltjes Veenema and Maayke Jans Wadman.

Jan was married on December 6, 1879, at the age of 32 to
Ymkje Jelles Syttema (aged approximately 37 years), born in Wartena circa 1842, daughter of Jelle Aukes Syttema and Akke Jacobs Hiemstra.
